πŸ”΅ CORE FOUNDATION

πŸ”Ή Theme Overview

This week, both Adult and YAYA classes explore one of the central doctrines of the Christian faith β€” the nature of Jesus Christ:

  • Adult – The Hypostatic Union (Divine and Human Nature of Christ)

  • YAYA – The Deity of Jesus Christ (Part 1)

Together, these lessons reveal:

  • Jesus is fully God

  • Jesus is fully man

  • His divine nature reveals His authority

  • His human nature allows Him to identify with humanity

This doctrine explains how salvation became possible.

🧠 Only God could save humanity.
🧠 Only a man could represent humanity.

Jesus became both.

🟦 SECTION 2: ADULT FOCUS

THE HYPOSTATIC UNION

πŸ”₯ What Is the Hypostatic Union?

The Hypostatic Union is the doctrine that Jesus Christ possesses two complete natures in one person.

He is:

  • Fully God

  • Fully Man

Both natures exist simultaneously without confusion or separation.

Jesus was always divine.

But at the incarnation, He took on human nature.

πŸ“– John 8:58
πŸ“– John 10:30
πŸ“– John 1:14

🌍 A. His Divine Nature

Scripture confirms Jesus is God.

πŸ“– John 20:28
πŸ“– Titus 2:13

Jesus also performed acts that only God can do:

  • Fully God

  • Fully Man

  • Forgiving sins (Mark 2:3–7)

  • Raising the dead (John 11:43–44)

  • Commanding nature (Matthew 14:18–21)

  • Possessing all authority (Matthew 28:18)

  • His statement β€œI AM” (John 8:58) connects Him to God's name in Exodus 3:14.

  • Salvation itself requires belief in Christ’s divinity. πŸ“– Romans 10:9

🧍B. His Human Nature

Jesus became human for several reasons.

πŸ“– Luke 1:35
πŸ“– John 1:1,14

He took on flesh so that He could:

  • Omnipotence (All-powerful)

  • Identify with human struggles (Hebrews 2:17–18)

  • Experience human life

  • Die for the sins of humanity (Galatians 3:13)

🟨 SECTION 3: YAYA FOCUS

THE DEITY OF JESUS CHRIST (PART 1)

πŸ“˜ A. Biblical Evidence Jesus Is God

The Bible clearly declares Jesus as God.

Examples include:

  • Jesus is part of the Godhead

    πŸ“– Genesis 1:1, 26

  • The fullness of God dwells in Him

    πŸ“– Colossians 2:6–9

  • The Father calls Him God

    πŸ“– Hebrews 1:8

  • Old Testament prophecy identifies Him as Mighty God

    πŸ“– Isaiah 9:6

  • Jesus declared unity with the Father

    πŸ“– John 10:30

πŸ‘‘ B. Testimony of the Apostles

The apostles affirmed Christ’s deity.

πŸ“– John 1:1 – The Word was God

πŸ“– John 1:14 – The Word became flesh

πŸ“– John 20:28 – Thomas said β€œMy Lord and my God”

πŸ“– Titus 2:13 – The great God and our Saviour

πŸ“– 2 Peter 1:1 – Our God and Saviour Jesus Christ

C. Divine Titles and Attributes

Jesus possesses titles and attributes belonging to God.

  • Redeemer
    πŸ“– Psalm 19:14 / Titus 2:13

  • Emmanuel – God with us
    πŸ“– Matthew 1:23

  • Creator and Sustainer
    πŸ“– John 1:3 / Colossians 1:16–17

He also possesses divine attributes:

  • Eternity (John 8:58)

  • Omnipresence (Matthew 18:20)

  • Omniscience (Matthew 16:21)

  • Omnipotence (Luke 7:13–15)Righteousness

🟩 SECTION 4: CONNECT THE DOTS

How Both Classes Connect

Adult Class β†’ Dual Nature of Christ
YAYA Class β†’ Divine Identity of Christ

Together they reveal:

πŸ‘‰ Jesus is fully God and fully man

πŸ‘‰ His divinity gives Him authority

πŸ‘‰ His humanity allows Him to represent us

πŸ‘‰ His sacrifice makes salvation possible

Without His humanity, He could not die for man.

Without His divinity, His sacrifice would not save man.

🟧 SECTION 5: HEART TRANSFORMATION

Understanding Christ’s nature transforms our faith.

πŸ”Ž Ask Yourself:

  • Do I truly believe Jesus is God?

  • Do I trust Him as my High Priest?

  • Do I rely on Him in my weakness?

  • Do I approach God boldly through Christ?

If God truly rules my heart:

  • I submit.

  • I obey.

  • I surrender.

  • I seek first His Kingdom.

Because Jesus understands human struggle:

We can approach God with confidence.

πŸŸ₯ SECTION 6: LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT

πŸ† COMPETITION PREPARATION

If you are representing RCCG HoD in the regional competition:

For this lesson, focus on:

βœ” Attributes of Christ

Can you explain:

βœ” Why Christ must be both God and man?

βœ” How Hebrews 4:14–16 shows Christ’s humanity?
