🔵 CORE FOUNDATION

🔹 Theme Overview

This week’s lessons address two sensitive but important realities in the believer’s life:

  • The Adult lesson (Widowhood & Single Parenthood) teaches God’s heart of compassion and the believer’s responsibility to support and care for vulnerable people in society.

  • The YAYA lesson (Christianity & Homosexuality Part 2) focuses on understanding the dangers of sin and how believers should respond with truth, love, and spiritual responsibility.

Together, these lessons reveal a powerful truth:

👉 God calls believers to combine compassion with truth—showing love without compromising righteousness.

When believers walk in this balance, they will:

  • Reflect God’s heart toward the vulnerable

  • Stand firm in truth without hatred or compromise

  • Become instruments of restoration and salvation

  • Build a community rooted in both grace and righteousness

🧠 God’s love does not ignore sin, and God’s truth does not cancel compassion.

🧠 MEMORY VERSES

Adult:

Psalm 68:5 (KJV)

A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.

YAYA:

Leviticus 20:13 (NKJV)

If a man lies with a male as he lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination…

🟦 SECTION 1: FOUNDATIONAL TEXT REVIEW

Adult Bible Passage:

📖 Genesis 21:9–19 — Hagar and Ishmael

This passage highlights the reality of single parenthood and God’s intervention.

From the passage we learn:

  • Hagar became a single parent due to conflict and separation (v9–10)

  • She wandered in the wilderness of Beersheba (v14)

  • She experienced distress and hopelessness over her child (v15–16)

  • God heard the voice of the child and responded (v17)

  • God opened her eyes to provision (well of water) (v19)

👉 God sees, hears, and provides for those in vulnerable situations.

🔎 Reflection: Why is it important to trust God even in seasons of abandonment or hardship?

YAYA Bible Passage:

📖 Ezekiel 33:11–15 — God’s Call to Repentance

From this passage we learn:

  • God does not delight in the death of the wicked (v11)

  • He calls sinners to turn from their ways and live (v11)

  • Righteousness must be maintained to remain in right standing (v12–13)

  • A sinner who repents and turns from sin will be forgiven (v14–15)

  • God judges based on current standing, not past history

👉 Repentance—not past identity—determines a person’s standing with God.

🔎 Reflection: How does understanding God’s mercy shape the way we relate to sinners?
