📅 28th September 2025
📖 Adult Bible Text: 1 Corinthians 6:16–20
📖 YAYA Bible Text: John 16:12–14
🧠 Adult Memory Verse: 1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
🧠 YAYA Memory Verse: John 16:13 (NKJV)
🔹 Theme Overview
This week, both Adult and YAYA classes explore two powerful truths about the believer’s spiritual life:
Adult – God’s Temple
YAYA – Hodegeo Pneuma (The Guidance of the Holy Spirit)
The Adult lesson focuses on the identity of the believer as God’s dwelling place.
The YAYA lesson focuses on the Holy Spirit who lives within believers and guides them into truth.
Together, these lessons reveal an important spiritual reality:
A believer’s life is both a temple where God dwells and a vessel guided by the Holy Spirit.
When believers understand this truth, they begin to:
Live with greater reverence for God
Become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s leading
Guard their lives from sin and spiritual compromise
Walk in obedience and spiritual maturity
🧠 The Holy Spirit does not guide empty vessels — He guides a consecrated temple.
Adult:
📖 1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
YAYA:
📖 John 16:13 (NKJV)
“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."
Adult Bible Passage:
1 Corinthians 6:16–20
YAYA Bible Passage:
John 16:12–14

👉 The believer is God’s temple, and the Holy Spirit is the divine guide within that temple.
Adult Bible Passage:
📖 1 Corinthians 6:16–20 – The Believer as God’s Temple
The Apostle Paul teaches that the body of the believer belongs to God and must not be defiled.
From the passage we learn:
Believers are spiritually joined with Christ (v17)
Sexual immorality dishonours the body (v18)
The body of a believer is the temple of the Holy Spirit (v19)
Believers were bought with a price through Christ’s sacrifice (v20)
Therefore believers must glorify God in both body and spirit (v20)
The New Testament shifts the concept of God’s temple from a physical building to the life of every believer.
When a person becomes born again, God’s Spirit begins to dwell within them.
🔎 Reflection: If your body is truly God’s temple, how should that influence the way you live?
YAYA Bible Passage:
📖 John 16:12–14 – The Holy Spirit Guides Believers
Before His ascension, Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would come to guide His followers.
From the passage we learn:
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth (v13)
He guides believers into all truth (v13)
He does not speak independently but communicates God’s will (v13)
He reveals things to come (v13)
He glorifies Christ (v14)
This promise of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled at Pentecost when the Spirit came upon believers and began dwelling within them.
🔎 Reflection: How can believers become more sensitive to the voice and guidance of the Holy Spirit?

🔥 The Believer’s Body
The Apostle Paul describes the church and individual believers as the temple where God dwells.
This truth carries deep spiritual meaning.
The temple in the Old Testament was a sacred structure in Jerusalem where God’s presence was manifested.
But in the New Testament:
👉 The temple is no longer a building.
👉 The temple is the believer’s body.
📖 1 Corinthians 6:19
Because God’s Spirit lives in us, our lives must reflect reverence, purity, and obedience.
Paul warns that defiling God’s temple invites divine judgement.
📖 1 Corinthians 3:17
This means believers must honour God not only spiritually but also physically.
🧠 A. Becoming God’s Temple
Believers become God’s temple through spiritual rebirth.
When a person is born again:
The Holy Spirit begins to dwell in them
Their life becomes a sacred dwelling place for God
Their identity changes from worldly to spiritual
📖 John 3:3–7
📖 2 Corinthians 6:16
Through Christ, believers become new creations called to glorify God both in body and spirit.
📖 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
⚠ B. The Danger of Dishonouring the Temple
Some people wrongly believe that God only cares about the heart while the body is irrelevant.
But Scripture teaches otherwise.
Our lives — body, soul, and spirit — must reflect God’s holiness.
📖 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Careless living can dishonour the temple God has made sacred.
As God's dwelling place, believers are transformed into His likeness, with His glory revealed through them
📖 2 Corinthians 3:18
Believers must therefore live with awareness that their lives carry the presence of God.
The Greek expression Hodegeo Pneuma refers to the guiding work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer.
📖 John 14:26
The word “Hodegeo” means to lead, guide, or direct along a path, while “Pneuma” refers to the Spirit of God.
Together, the phrase describes the Holy Spirit as the divine guide who leads believers into truth and righteous living.
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would guide His followers after His departure, helping them understand God’s will and navigate life faithfully.
📘 A. The Role of the Holy Spirit in Guidance
The Holy Spirit plays several important roles in the life of believers.
1️⃣ Guiding Believers into Truth
The Holy Spirit helps believers understand the truth of God’s Word and protects them from deception.
📖 John 16:13
Through His guidance, believers grow in spiritual knowledge and wisdom.
2️⃣ Revealing the Mind of God
The Holy Spirit helps believers discern God’s will in different situations.
📖 1 Corinthians 2:10–12
This guidance enables believers to make decisions that align with God’s purpose.
3️⃣ Directing Believers’ Paths
The Holy Spirit directs believers in the choices they make and the paths they follow.
📖 Romans 8:14
Those who allow themselves to be led by the Spirit demonstrate their identity as children of God.
👑 B. Functions of the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit not only distribute spiritual gifts and also serves as the seal for redemption of the believer. He:
Reproves
📖 John 16:8
Comforts
📖 John 14:16
Teaches and reminds
📖 John 14:26
Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, believers would struggle to navigate the complexities of life.
⚠ C. Hindrances to the Guidance of the Holy Spirit
Although the Holy Spirit desires to guide believers, some actions can hinder His work.
These include:
ignoring God’s Word
persistent disobedience
spiritual pride
worldly distractions
When believers resist the Holy Spirit, they become spiritually insensitive to His leading.
📖 Ephesians 4:30
🌱 D. Responding to the Guidance of the Holy Spirit
Believers must cultivate habits that help them remain sensitive to the Spirit’s guidance.
These include:
studying the Word of God
maintaining a consistent prayer life
obeying God’s instructions
living a life of humility and surrender
As believers grow in these practices, they become more attentive to the Holy Spirit’s direction in their daily lives.
How Both Classes Connect
Adult Class → God dwelling within believers.
YAYA Class → the Holy Spirit guiding believers.
Together they reveal:
👉 God dwells within believers.
👉 God actively leads believers.
👉 God dwells within us and guides us through the Holy Spirit.
A mature believer therefore lives with two powerful awarenesses:
Reverence — because God dwells within them.
Sensitivity — because the Holy Spirit is guiding them.
Living as God’s Temple
Understanding that our bodies are God’s temple changes how believers live.
When believers recognize that God dwells within them and that the Holy Spirit guides their lives, their daily choices begin to reflect reverence, obedience, and spiritual awareness.
📖 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
This truth calls believers to live consciously, knowing that their lives are meant to reflect the presence and guidance of God.
🔎 Ask Yourself:
Do I truly recognize that my life is God’s temple?
Am I sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in my daily decisions?
Do I depend on the Spirit of God for wisdom and direction?
Do I live in a way that honours God with my body, thoughts, and actions?
Do I allow the Holy Spirit to shape my character and influence my choices?
If God truly dwells within me:
I will walk in holiness and reverence.
I will listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I will make decisions that honour God.
I will grow in spiritual discernment.
I will live as a vessel that reflects God's presence to the world.
